Moving Forward

  • Integrate student cultures into the classroom - diversity and Indigenous ways of knowing

  • Ensure activities are relevant and authentic to topic or lesson

  • Address all perspectives and your own biases

  • Speak up against prejudices

DO

  • Assume any specific student of a certain Indigenous/cultural/ethnic group is the spokesperson

  • Don’t force activities for the sake of “check-marking” a list.

  • Make judgement based on biases and believe you are free from bias

  • Shy away from difficult conversations

DON'T

These activities remain the starting point along the path to reconciliation, social change and understanding. We must strive to better ourselves continuously and checking not only ourselves but those around us. Be an ally!
